WWF and Hulk Hogan, Together at last

Growing up WWF always stood for World Wrestling Federation, and my favourite wrestler was Hulk Hogan (of course).  Well now-a-days that acronym stands for helping the environment.  With all the news on the terrible oil spill (still going on), natural disaster’s and the current rate of extinction, I tend to feel plagued by all the problems.  I do make a monetary contribution but the main thing is awareness of what we can personally do to help.

Although overwhelming the current state of our earth can be helped by simple everyday things such as reducing, reusing, recycling, composting, turning off the tap when brushing teeth, taking fewer/shorter showers, and basic awareness of how our actions effect our environment.  A lot of people think drastic measures are needed but if everyone just cut back on the amount of meat they ate, the number of kilometres driven, waste created etc. etc. the results would be incredible.

One thought is for the cost of something to include its environmental impact.  For example, that $5 ‘value meal’ at McDics probably should cost something more like $35 considering the cow meat, the travel/packaging/electricity/gas/waste etc. etc. etc.  I could go on.

An excellent website is http://www.storyofstuff.com/ – I love her mini-informative videos 🙂

I also discovered something I could add here, on wordpress.  At the bottom of the page is a little ‘button’ and if you press it you can do lots of stuff, for free, to help 🙂

So have fun!  Live life.  And remember, we can only do what we can, but we can do a LOT.

The animals, myself and the environment thank you. (I ‘borrowed’ the photo from cuteoverload.com)
