Burlesque this Friday

A bunch of us are headed over to the Wise Hall on Friday night to attend Amanda’s burlesque show.  I call it her show when really there are going to be a ton of other people, but to me, it’s all about Amanda 😉  I can’t wait to see her moves.

Here’s the info for a truly shameless plug, come one come all! (if my words don’t get you out, maybe this shot of Amanda will):

Vancouver’s biggest and longest running Burlesque show is back with yet another spectacular presentation.

Featuring over 25 singers, dancers, comedians and striptease artists performing a wide range of funny, sexy and entertaining numbers.

Plus for the first time ever Vancouver’s two favorite dancers (Georgia Straight’s Best of Vancouver 2009) on the same stage. Not only will we have Screaming Chicken’s own Melody Mangler but we will also joined by SPANDYANDY! Andy http://spandyandy.com/ is an inspiring dancer and one of Vancouver’s favorite street performers. Read more about him here:http://www.vancouversun.com/entertainment/Street+performer+Spandy+Andy+jumps+English/3030706/story.html

And as a special treat on Friday night only we will have another special guest – DOMINO BURLESK!http://domino-burlesk.webs.com/ Coming all the way from LONDON UK, Domino is “an intoxicating cocktail of vintage glamour, humour and theatrical flare.”

And that’s not it! April O’Peel will be reprising her Mime number from the Vancouver International Burlesque Festival. This number received an enthusiastic standing ovation and was considered ‘the highlight’ of the festival by many. If you missed this the first time you don’t want to miss it here.

This will be the last chance to see Screaming Chicken before they go to compete at the world championships of Burlesque – The Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend – where they will be competing for ‘Best Group’ and ‘Queen of Burlesque’ (Melody Mangler).

“Minute for minute, this is a funnier production than SNL or Mad-TV, with a high-caliber of choreography, costume design, and writing.” -The Peak
